The development of new drugs has become largely dependent on a deeper understanding of human (patho)physiology. Nowadays, pharmacology and toxicology, both in vitro and in vivo, are essential to exploit fundamental knowledge for the development of drug candidates. As a consequence, both disciplines are more and more applied at an early stage of drug design to guide synthetic strategies.

Biopharmaceuticals have become an important category of drugs for the treatment and prevention of a variety of chronic and life-threatening diseases. In several aspects biopharmaceuticals differ from conventional, low-molecular-weight drugs, which has a major impact on the way they are developed.

The event is the final conference of the European research project MetaFight and will bring together leading experts from European countries and USA. It will be an opportunity for researchers involved in / interested in metastasis related research to present and discuss recent knowledge on cancer cell invasion and metastasis.
